We keep our swimming class sizes at the Sylvestrian Leisure Centre small to ensure that we’re able to give each and every child the attention and support they need and deserve.
From group swimming activities to one-on-one coaching, each child is treated equally to allow them to develop their swimming skills and grow.
Our swimming lessons are also bitesize in length as we know how difficult it can be to keep children focused for a long period of time, but don’t worry, we fit lots of learning into that time!
To keep children engaged, it’s all about having fun! We don’t want your children’s swimming lessons at the Sylvestrian Leisure Centre to seem like just another school day so we engage them with games and activities.
From activities and visual demonstrations of how to master different strokes, to games that teach children all about safety in the water, your children will be asking to come back to our lessons every week!
All of our instructors are great with kids, DBS checked and certified swimming instructors so you know your children will be in safe hands.
They make sure each child in the class gets the help they need to swim fluently in the water and become confident in their abilities.

Our childrens’ swimming lessons start with the basics of getting your kids comfortable with being in the water before moving on to learning how to move in the water and develop strokes needed in order to swim. We will also teach them essential skills to keep them safe in the swimming pool and the sea, while using fun and games to keep them engaged.
If your child is nervous about learning to swim in a group setting or you want to teach the whole family, we offer private swimming lessons at the Sylvestrian Leisure Centre. With our private swimming lessons you or your child will be taught in a more intimate setting with more individual attention, allowing a more personalised and tailored experiences.
