**** PRESS RELEASE ****
A local swimming school, in conjunction with a scheme sponsored by British Gas, has raised £200.00 for St Helena Hospice.
The ‘British Gas Pools 4 Schools’ pool is a portable teaching facility designed to accommodate a full class of children in a specially designed teaching tank. By placing a swimming pool at the centre of schools and communities this scheme provides an opportunity to 10,000 young people to swim all over the UK
Swim-With-Me is a small family business run by husband & wife team Tracie and Jean-Michel Jack and was established to meet the growing need for high quality swimming lessons in the UK. Swim-With-Me provided the teachers for the Pools 4 Schools’ scheme in Colchester.
Jean-Michel said “Swim-With-Me is not only working towards helping as many people as possible to learn to swim, but also encourage the need for a healthy active lifestyle in today’s society. We believe that learning to swim is a skill that will last a lifetime and that no person should go without. Involvement with this scheme enabled us to encourage more people to swim”.
Private lessons were given free of charge by Swim-With-Me but donations of over £90.00 were received. Swim-With-Me doubled this and presented a cheque for £200.00 to St Helena Hospice as a parent who had attended lessons had been cared for by the Hospice.
Kate Alden, Events and Community Fundraiser, St Helena Hospice said: ” Congratulations to Tracie and Jean-Michel and the parents and pupils of Swim-With-Me. It is fantastic that children have had the opportunity to enjoy swimming whilst raising money for us. All our services are free of charge to patients and their families so the money raised will go towards helping and caring for people at home, in our Inpatient Unit and through our two day centres in Colchester and Clacton.”
